Current Movies - Thumbs UP or Thumbs DOWN

Just saw Batman Vs. Superman and it was fantastic. It's my favorite superhero movie by far and I loved some of the character details they included. Thumbs up!
Good to know. The movie got terrible reviews from critics, but it might be worth watching.

I've recently been reading differing opinions on another forum. Many liked it, some hated it. It seems to be an "either/or" situation, love it or hate it, nothing in between.

It seems to me that a lot of the negativity about comic-derived movies is when they don't "stick to the characters"or known storylines from the comics. It never bothers me because I don't know the comics and so don't recognise when they've diverged from "how it's meant to be".

I just watched 'Tallulah' on Netflix. I loved it, it felt so real. The concept itself, of a girl kidnapping a child, seems dark and unforgivable. And if you saw it on the news you would surely hate her for it. But she was just being human, and she made a stupid mistake. It showed the emotion, the heart behind such a crime. Of course I don't condone such things, but it just goes to show, nothing's ever black and white.

I think I may have mentioned a while ago that I loved the TV show The Last Ship. Surprisingly, it was renewed for another season last year. The 2nd season was rather boring, and it felt like they were drawing out a story that was meant to have only one season. However, it was renewed again, and they are on season 3. This new season has been REALLY good so far, actually.
It's basically about a disease (the "Red Flu") that wipes out humanity and the remaining people re-establishing society and making cures, etc. Lots of military action--and it's very authentic too. The actors look like you just took them off the armed force to film the movie. Definitely would recommend this show! I don't know if it's on Netflix or Hulu, but I watch it on amazon prime.

I watched "In the Heart of the Sea" inspired by Moby-Dick. Let's put it this way--the movie was as exciting as the book--that is, not at all. There were a couple of actions scenes, but besides that, it didn't peak my interest. I'd give it 2/5 stars.
On my 'must see list'. Read the book many yrs ago, hard read for a kid but loved it. Is the movie really that bad? I'll hope not to be that disapointed....

Saw "Captain Fantastic," yesterday not a super hero, just a guy(Viggo Mortensen) living off the grid and home schooling his kids. Read great reviews but didn't translate into much of an audience. My brother and I , and one lone man were the only ones viewing it. I liked it very much, quirky but heartfelt and give it 3 stars. My brother didn't like it at all.
Sounds like my kind of movie, love Viggo. Besides 'Hidalgo' (I've watched it so many times it's uncountable) . My two favorites of his are probably his worst, 'The Road' he was the man, and 'Vanishing Point' not his best, but my favorites.

We just dropped Amazon prime awhile ago....hope it's on the other two, looking it up now, crap when I get into a show and then it peters out on it's first season.....Sounds like something I would be interested in, even better that it survived for a third season.

I loved Viggo in Lord of the Rings, just looks so much handsomer with dark hair & beard.

Anyhow I have seen him in some movies were he wasn't the nicest person - "History of Violence, Eastern Promises, GI Jane" just wanted to kick him into next week. But he is such a good actor, doesn't even seem like he is acting - that's what can make him really scary. Hidalgo was great. I read afterwards he loved the horse so much he bought him.

YEAH! @BantamFan4Life Hulu plus has it, watching it now.

I haven't read the whole book, partially because I would practically fall asleep while reading it

Does it follow the book? I'm not sure, but I would guess, just by the actors and producers, that it didn't.
