Current Movies - Thumbs UP or Thumbs DOWN

"Lion" gets a 3.75 from both the Princess and me. Great true story brought to life on the screen.

deedee, there's one coming that we have to see - "A Dog's Purpose' - told through the life of a dog who lives through several reincarnations. Princess read the book and said that we will be crying.

Yes Sour, I want to see that too. I'm a sucker for dog movies and I will have pockets stuffed with Kleenex. Since I know the dog keeps coming back I should be able to hold on.
I will pass on the movie where a monster lives in a young guy's truck

I'm not one for musicals though many years ago I did love" Cabaret," and "Funny Girl," okay and "Westside Story" & "Gypsy," I was very young then and hadn't gotten crushes on any of the male entertainers. Fast forward Ryan is a hunk and also great at comedy & drama! But I'd rather have them act than sing.

Watched Allied today with the movie group. Besides stories by Nicholas Sparks or Streep and Mirren movies, the Monday Matinee ladies are partial to Brad Pitt and, yes, he entranced them in this film with cleancut good looks and romance. Marion Cottilard acted well, and her wardrobe was fabulous and sumptuous. The story was suspenseful and there was good authenticity with settings and props down to the right color green porcelain fixtures for the World War II era. Gun violence and an occasional bosom glimpse along with steamy love scenes featuring Pitt's buttocks -- (did I mention I hang out with a bunch of dirty old ladies?) -- plus an interesting twist or two before a semi-predictable ending.

Would I recommend the movie? Hmmmm..... I normally wouldn't have watched this film as I found the trailer uninteresting, but I'm glad I did. Not jumping up and down, though, to encourage others to go see it. It's an interesting period piece.
