Current Movies - Thumbs UP or Thumbs DOWN

I'm in two minds whether to see that Mountain movie with Idris Elba and Kate Winslet. They both looked excellent in the trailer, but I'm not really "into" those survival type movies.... Should I go or should I stay?

Reviews mention it being predictible and the script so so but, said the leads save the movie with their acting prowess. Heck, I'd go see Idris tie his shoe.

I'm not a fan of Kate Winslet - since Titanic. She's safe and poor Leo is dying and holding on to her raft/boat whatever in freezing water. She gives him a push away - the heartless beast. I have never forgiven her for that.

Well I went to see Victoria and Abdul last night which has had really good reviews from critics and the public, but left feeling disappointed. I was so looking forward to it, but left the cinema feeling deflated. I love Judi Dench and enjoyed Mrs Brown but felt that this film left you feeling empty. I appreciate that it is based on a true story but felt the ending was very unsatisfactory and to me it seemed like there was no benefit to the story being told....apart from wondering if it was a vehicle to promote unity in the current era of Christian/Muslim unrest, but even then, neither "side" comes out of the film looking good. I didn't really feel the chemistry between the leads, much as I wanted to, and it was just unsatisfying and a bit depressing how it ended.
I absolutely hate to do it, but I'm giving it 2 stars tops and that is being generous.

That's the thing. The actors make it look good in the trailer, and Idris is lovely, but do I really want to see them trudging about in snow for an hour and a half? How much does the "star power" outweigh the "it's not a movie topic I'm really interested in..."

"Oh, and it was "just a movie" and not kate being horrible to leo, you know :D"

:he Umm, she was playing a role, deedee.

Checked the 3 local theaters - :barnie there is nothing to see.

That may be so but, I don't care for her anyway. As to Idris or any other male star I have crushes on - fantasies are all I have left. I would trudge through snow with him. In real life, shoveling snow is one thing I do really well. Plus I "keep" better in cold weather.
