Current Movies - Thumbs UP or Thumbs DOWN

We can be "Sweet" and "Sour." I'll be "sweet."
with a cherry on top!

Do you know that you guys have motivated me to go back to seeing pictures at the cinema? For a long time, I hadn't been, but your recommendations got me back to going. I've been seeing a lot of movies because of you.

I saw one on DVD worth a mention. It is an Aussie movie called Swimming Upstream. It's about this bloke who is good at swimming and his dysfunctional family. Real-life autobiographical material of Tony Fingleton. Geoffrey Rush and Judy Davis play the parents, and Jesse Spencer (he was in House) plays the son as a grown-up. This type of adversity-to-success subject-matter has been done before, but the cast makes this better than the run-of-the-mill sports biopic (there's not much sports in it, really, it's more about the people and the family dynamic). Worth a watch if you can find it. The whole cast does an outstandingly good job in this.

Well we saw "Molly's Game," this morning with Jessica Chastain or something like that and Idris Elba. Kind of back & forth confusing plot but the two stars did all they could to keep it flying. They were excellent. Brother and I both give it 3.5 stars out of 4.

Potato Chip ah, how great it was to see Idris again. He is so watchable! I hope they are working on new episodes for Luther. I think they are supposed to do only 3 .:hitI'm
guessing they will just finish with the 'Alice Morgan' deal and him.

They were threatening to make a movie -it'll be great if they ever do it. BTW while looking up info on Takers, I discovered Idris starred as Nelson Mandella in "Long Walk to Freedom." How could I have missed that?
