Current Movies - Thumbs UP or Thumbs DOWN

I used to love Simon Baker on the Mentalist - was not satisfied with the way they ended it and found out who Red John was.
Yes, the Mentalist sort of fizzled at the end.
He was good in another US show, The Guardian. He played this young lawyer who got arrested for drugs and had to work for a child protection lawyer place as part of his community service.

Idris Elba news - as told to me by my brother. He said he "Binged" him and discovered he, Idris) will be starring in his own comedy series on Netflix .Idris plays a struggling disk jockey and an 'eternal bachelor' that becomes a"manny," to his famous, best friend's problem child daughter. It didn't go farther than that but, I am guessing the celebrity friend is a woman.

I saw "Breath" last night. I woke up and wondered about the characters in the movie and things/issues raised by the plot.... Very thought-provoking subject matter and themes.
Good movie, story well told. I'm not a surfing fan, but the surfing scenes weren't at all boring to me, they were all in context of moving the story forward. The 2 young blokes in the movie aren't/weren't actors, but you wouldn't know it from their performances. They did a great job, very natural performances and they conveyed a lot of depth in showing what the boys/young men were feeling and dealing with. Some great comedic lines. Audience laughed out loud.
Some gorgeous landscape/ocean shots (it was shot down south in Western Australia, at Albany and Denmark).
I hadn't read the book and didn't know anything about the story before I went. There are some scenes/themes that I found a bit shocking/confronting, but they were central to the development of the story and the characters and really give you some things to think about. I don't want to give any spoilers so that's all I'll say.

Thank you Potato Chip - I don't think it is showing out here.
It's not showing anywhere, yet. This was a special pre-release screening.

I'm not sure whether/when they are releasing it in the US. The dialogue is pretty "Aussie", you might be needing those subtitles :D It seems that it got shown at the Toronto Film Festival late last year, but it doesn't officially open just yet.

EDIT: IMDb says US release 1 June
