Current Movies - Thumbs UP or Thumbs DOWN

Today we saw "Green Book". deedee you are right on the money about this show - very, very, very, very excellent. In my opinion the best movie we have seen this year. 4 stars are not enough, but that's all we can give. The scene with the drinking glasses - brought back memories of a story my mother told me about her father. Before they moved to the country and became chicken farmers he ran a bar in the Bronx. 'nough said.

Thank you Sour. I loved that movie enough where I want to see it again. Brother said no.
I think I need Viggo as my personal body guard. He makes it look easy. I've seen him in a couple very brutal movies (Eastern Promises) and I think (History of Violence) brutal beyond usual movies limits. It was so good to see him in a different light.

Have seen Mahershala in a very nasty role in a Netflix series. Then saw him in "Hidden Figures," courting Taraji Henson and "my he was so fine!!" He's one on of my favorites list too.

OK! One post, 2 reviews!

Saw Crimes of Grindenwald (New Potterverse film) over Thanksgiving week with the whole fam (3 generations). it's exactly what you would expect in a Harry Potter universe film. Lots of magical things, lots of special effects, lots of things you will only be up to speed on really if you're a Potterverse fan. We all enjoyed it, though the adults all agreed that it has been long enough since the first Fantastic beast film came out that we didn't remember some of the key points that tied them together. I would suggest watching Fantastic beasts again before going to see this for the sake of continuity.
4 out of 5 stars. it's HP Universe, but it's not as compelling a story as the Harry Potter series was. Yet.

(--Edit If you like Johnny Depp in his usual "quirky, off-center roles", he's an amazing Grindenwald. I think this may be one of his best recent performances.)

Also saw "Ralph Breaks the Internet" last weekend. What can I say about this. If you enjoyed "Wreck it Ralph", you'll like this one. It's a sequel so maybe not quite as much as you enjoyed the first one, but there are definitely places it will punch you in the feels as well as plenty of places you'll laugh. It's absolutely CRITICAL that you stay for BOTH end credits scenes. One is in the middle, and then one at the very end.

3/5 stars. Not because it's a mediocre movie. I only have the first one 3/5 stars as well, and i really liked it.

I liked 'cam' on netflix.

It's not fun and dark and heavy and still entertaining. If you have liked the 'black mirror' series this might be for you.
It is not pleasent, fictional, revolves around the downside of technology, you want to know hy and 'who did it?' but keeps you thinking after the movies how you can solve it. Because, yes it is fiction, it is also real life, now for a lot of girls and boys. It involves a heavy subject that has to do with young girls(boys) and adult men online. Not suitable for children. But a must-see for adults.

I also saw Mowgli! Well, not for the first time. We are allways months behind U.S.A. so I downloaded it illegally. (please don't tell my government!!! JK. With internet nowadays they could just air movies at the same date as in the U.S.A.... but they don't... because money... not easy boyss! We see soooo many spoilers that we break =/ Oh and it is not illegal to download them here, just spreading the illegal download...)(If it is illegal in your country; don't copy me)
ANYWAY,
Wow. I really liked this adaption of Jungle book. Would like to have seen more Indian people as voices... bollywood sure has some... but nonetheless; the adaptation was awesome. It had derelict plumbersnatch in it an all of our favourite stars! The realness of the computer-animals could have been better...but it was not disturbing. Cried 3 times. 3 times more then in jungle book. It is a deeper social adaption of the original jungle book.
I would rate it suitable for children, after 9-10-ish. There are quite more hard scenes then the original; but that is no problem if your child knows social justice. If it is old enough to understand unfairness.

I've seen advertisements for the new jungle book and I'm not quite sure why, but I haven't been tempted. I'll have a look now.
'Cam', I've not heard of this before. I'll have a look at this as well.
