Peep I'm one of the little old ladies who won't watch scary movies alone. If you were here I'd watch it with you.
it's a deal! Thanks for the review!"The Beach Bum" (currently at Redbox)
So we wanted something upbeat and silly, which seemed like a no-brainer with a cast of Matthew McConaughey, Jonah Hill, Zac Efron, Jimmy Buffet, Martin Lawrence, Snoop Dogg and Isla Fisher. What we got was a senseless debauched stoner film that made Cheech & Chong look like Oscar contenders. Believe it or not, in this movie Snoop Dogg was the most rational character! Supposedly the movie is based on a couple of Jimmy Buffet songs.
This film's story follows Matthew's hedonistic character -- Moondog -- over a period of major relationship milestones. My counselor husband noted that the dude is continuously happy despite setbacks because (1) he has no consequences for his actions and (2) doesn't care what other people think. So, yeah, if you enjoy people like that, you could expend 95 minutes watching this Faustian Forrest Gump puff and groin grind his way through Key West and Miami.
There's a reason this movie went straight to DVD. Well, in any event, I guess the cast got a nice Florida vacation out of the deal. The viewers will not feel so blessed. The saving grace -- for me, anyway -- is its soundtrack and the knowledge that, nope, I don't need to consider Key West for any upcoming vacations.
PG-17 rating for language, copious marijuana smoking, drugs, breasts, sex.
(The only thing missing was Seth Rogen.)

and saw a film with two of my friends: Booksmart.
