*starshine had let them mourne for a while before sewing the wounds closed at least so that they won't attract the centipedes.*
*whisp helped*
*ace held his breath as he was squeezed.*

Ace: is dad OK? *he didn't get the chance to see what happened when he was suddenly grabbed.*

*azira looked toward flint.*

Azira: you have any plans now? *she honestly had no idea what she should do.*

*mao approached Vixen and rowan.*

Mao: are you guys alright?
Vixen nodded, a little tearfully. "Yeah, I think we're okay. Mao, you were so brave out on the battlefield. I guess I picked the right advisor..." Then she glanced up at Rowan. "Advisorrssss. you guys are amazing."

Rowan smiled at Vixen. “I’m fine as well. Just a bit injured if you couldn’t tell.” Rowan said. He glanced over at Basalt then to Apollyon. “At least it’s all over.” He commented with no expression.

"No, Ace." Moss wept. "He's dead. He sacrificed his life to save us all."

"Hold that thought." Flint said, raising a talon. "That can wait."

*storm went over to her advisor.*

Storm: have everyone regroup in town. *she wanted to know how many, and who was lost.*

*starshine gave a sigh before looking up at the sky as it started to clear.*

*ace was silent as he took in that information. But it didn't take long for him to join in on his brother's crying as well.*

Mao: good to hear. *he had already guessed what happened to basalt.*

*starshine had the other healers soon working on the rest of the injured while the soldiers gathered their dead.*

“He's dead.” Zephyr said, standing next to Pandion as she watched the huddle of dragons surrounding Monarche Basalt. She didn’t look away from the Solosis monarche for a moment, before turning to look at the feathered Aerattl. Her eyes were sad. “I don’t think Basalt’s going to make though.” She whispered. “He’s hurt bad.”
Pandion stood stock-still, watching the moment unfold seemingly in slow motion. Ace slipped quietly away from her and settled next to Moss, whose shoulders shook with sobs. Pandion had no tears to cry, but her grief and confusion hung heavy over her, the shock of such a great leader blinking out like a firefly was very real.
*She slipped towards the body of the Monarche and sat next to his great head. Softly she whispered to his still form,“he’s safe.” A quiet grief filled her that the Monarche would never see Ace again, nor did he get to ever know that Ace was still well and alive, all Pandion could do was assure his still form that she’d kept her promise, that Aquation pupa was kept safe.

A question was at the tip of Pandion’s tongue. Afraid to disturb the grieving, but anxious to settle the confusion, she raised her head and quietly asked, “who will be his predecessor?“ From what she could gather from the scene before her, the dragon named Moss was Basalt’s son.

Moss looked up when he heard Pandion speak and wiped his eyes, breathing a shaky breath as he stood up. "But of course." The dragon said, trying to straighten up and speak clearly. "My father believed that I am too young and inexperienced to run a kingdom, and I agree wholeheartedly." He said, his voice cracking in a couple of places.

"So, as his dying wish, he named general Kallitrax to me to be the next Monarche of Solosis."

(Josh, Kallitrax is there, right? Riiiiiigggghhhttt?

If not then scrap this post)

*ace snuggled up to his father when he was released from mosses grasp. That was his way of saying goodbye to him.*
