Sorry, I was basing my info on my LF 8 week olds (that by weight, from what I read, seem to be about the size of 5 wk CX) and they were really tight at about 4 sq ft. in the run and about 2 sq ft in the coop. Or at least they seemed to be. I know CX's aren't as active, and that is the reason I said, that the space seemed ok. My understanding of "big boys" was that they are the big processors. The guys who barely give the birds room to turn around. My apologies to you. I spoke out of turn.

Not that I consider myself one of the "big boys", but the density of my tractors are at 1.5 sqft, and that is more than enough space. I am a bit offended that you have the audasity to say I don't care about the well being of my birds due to the fact that I use this square footage. I give my birds an excellent life. They always have fresh water, fresh ground to walk on everyday, and ample food and enjoy the sun beaming down on them and feel the breeze rustling thru their feathers. My birds get big fast due to the fact that I take such good care of them.
How much expirience do you have with raising CX?
Have you ever seen a tractor of birds at 1.5 birds/sqft?
I consider you one of the "big boys" due to the fact that you have so much knowledge on these little (okay, big) meaties!!
I agree, they appear to have more than enough room as mine even have room to run and flap their wings.
Thank you Big Red!!
