Yesterday my 11 hens and 1 rooster, Cyril, were pecking around their pen and out of the woods came two roving english setters. They came sneaking up to the coop - my DH just happened to look out and see them. By the time he got out the door, Cryil had gathered his girls around him and was pressed right up against the fence, fluffed out and crowing and squawking to beat the band. DH said those dogs stopped in their tracks, turned around, and ran! Cyril is a GOOD rooster! (other than the fact that he loves his girls a little too aggressively - but they all look cute in their little aprons - this photo taken pre-aprons)
