Hi Folks:

I have 2 hens of unknown breed. They are about a year and maybe a few months old and both lay a beautiful large brown egg every morning. They have a nice coop and run, but I let them run the yard every day which they enjoy.

This afternoon, for the first time- well after laying her egg, my white hen laid another egg undera bush, with no shell, just the white skin which broke. Should I be concerned? She is otherwise bright eyed and I have had no health problems with either one of them.

Is this indicative of a problem starting?
Thanks for any insight you can give.

Hopefully not.

I periodically get shelless eggs, but i don't really worry about it.

Hopefully, it was just a glitch.

I have one that consistently lays eggs like that - she is faulty.
But they can occasionally lay eggs like that. Just make sure they are getting their oyster shell and calcium.
It might just be a temporary thing. Hopefully a one off!

Thanks so much for the responses, puts my mind at ease. The hen is acting normally- i just didnt get an egg out of her today.
