D.I.Y 5 Gallon Bucket Gravity Feed Duck Fount.

I adjusted the pipe down to reduce spillage and let the ducks have a go, as suspected after showing each of them there was water in the holes they dove right in and turned it into a pond. Playing away right now and only s little water spilled, but how to get them out lol.
:lol::gig
Sorry.....I suspected that would happen.
Gravity types of feeders/waterers with head holes often don't work for younger birds.
I'd bet that will be fine once they are bigger and can only fit their heads thru the holes.
Still not sure it will be deep enough for nare rinsing.

I like the concept.
I have two concerns. how easy will it be to clean
and it might be a bit heavy for smaller people to flip over after it is filled..
I would like to offer an idea.
rig the top bucket with a drop tube out of the bottom to a float valve at the bottom of the tube. then you can fill the top bucket without having to have an airtight seal.
I rigged something sort of like that for my water dishes in my sportsman incubators.
the float valves cost about $7.oo..
I also made a no waste 5 gal feeder.
it will handle any kind of dry feed from granuals , pellets , to finely ground grains.
total cost is less than $5.oo if you can get the pail free..
.......jiminwisc.....

The idea was to have a few of these around the yard and one in the run so I Don't have to clean out there dishes all day long. The holes on the bottom bucket where already drilled from another project for my older birds so I need to make a new one with smaller holes. Right now there having so much fun with there "mini pool" I figured I'd let them play in it a bit.

I just use 4'' pvc pipe.
