Da' Cute and Cuddly Call Duck thread!

Pics
Hi guys! Let's discuss call ducks and call duck noise.

I'm having trouble finding a video of just one duck quacking. Is it a constant thing? Or just when upset or moved? Can you quiet them?

Also do the drakes make the typical drake sound? Is it louder? Constant?

I'd like to get a pair that will be indoor ducks that will have plenty of out of enclosure time, sunshine and forging time.

Do they do okay in pairs? I see them for sale as pairs all the time. Will one pair be a big deal as far as noise goes? Will I hear them from outside my house? I would like to think part of the reason people think they are so loud is because they usually have quiet a few of them going at once.

One of my facebook friends has 2 white males he raised inside and they are great. He claims they are not loud at all but I'd like a second opinion.

they do great in just pairs but the females are the loud ones the males are fairly quiet and just make a normal Drake sound. mine make noise all the time but I have quite a few of them when I had just one pair the female was quiet unless she seen me then she would start going off the deep end. I would say that you would be able to hear them outside of your house because when one of my outside females start making noise you can hear them inside of the house. I'm uploading you a video of mine there are a bunch of ducks in the background making noise that are pekins but you can plainly make out the call duck that his screaming and that is a hen.

Im going to try incubating call eggs. Are they hard to hatch? I only want a pair so how many eggs should I get? Im going to try to buy a small digital incubator for the job. Like brinsea or rcom. Can you vent sex call duckling? Does anyone on here sell fertile eggs?

the high pitched quack its the call hen. I don't recommend housing them with larger ducks. The Ancona has since been moved but had believed all along it was a call.

You can vent sex call ducklings but if inexperienced they are small enough you can injure them. They are very very very hard to hatch no matter what incubator you get. If your new to incubating i wouldn't spend your money on eggs. Spend the money and get a juvenile pair from a breeder. Ours out of season for most call ducks since they are spring and summer layers. That being said, I do have one freak snowy hen that began laying again last week.

I'll get a video tomorrow of just a pair our trio by themselves so there isn't all the back ground noise from the others there too. I've only got one hen laying right now and it's a snowy call so I couldn't do any more than 4 eggs at a time right now. What color calls are you looking for?

Our one hen is noisy as heck (the one my son named after me) and will even try quacking while eating, or with her head in the water. The other (Ivy) only responds to Katy or Digger (the drake). He is nice and quiet, and makes less noise than our mallard and pekin drakes. We only got ours last week though.
