Da' Cute and Cuddly Call Duck thread!

Why is it stressful? Is it any different hatching their eggs versus other duck eggs?

This is my first year with call ducks. My knowledge of call ducks is very limited, however they appear to be of high quality. I purchased them from a breeder at the Minnesota State Poultry Association show last fall. It was the North American call duck meet.

A good quality call has a short neck and very small beak so the babies have a hard time getting themselves out of their shells

It seems as if Call ducks are very hard to manage properly

I have a huge favor to ask of someone. I am considering getting a female black east indie duck. I understand they are rarer and similar to a call duck. They are both bantam ducks. Can someone please grab one of their female call ducks and put her away from the rest of the flock and video tape her quacking and going about her business. I want to know how loud they are. I will only have one as it will be a pet but I would like to know what I'm in for as far as noise. And is the noise constant or just when you upset them? I get different opinions from everyone.

I don't want to sound rude but call ducks and east Indies are two different breeds. So asking what one sounds like has nothing to do with the other. Indies are generally quieter than calls though. You can always check on YouTube to see how loud they are.

Quote: Sorry I couldn't find a active thread for them so I though since they are both small breeds it would be similar. I've tried Youtube. There is barely one page of videos of them on there and they are silent in every single one. I know the females make noise but I'm just dying to know how loud it is.

That makes sense.  So there will probably be a few ducklings that require assistance. Thanks for letting me know.

Some do help if needed but others allow "natural selection". You'll have to be very careful if choosing to help because helping too early can cause death and helping too late can result in death. That's why it's so stressful lol. Definitely worth it though when those adorable little babies are running around.
