Da' Cute and Cuddly Call Duck thread!

OMG, I know, right?? My calls both hatched on day 28, it was agonizing!
I'm trying to stay positive. The one that just hatched had been pipped since Saturday night. Three others were pipped on Sunday morning and aren't reacting to light anymore this morning, but they were late last night. Five others haven't even pipped yet

Yes, we have a security camera on the bator, so he's been watching from work. Not the same though. I'm so disappointed it happened this way. I really wanted him to be home when they hatched.

This little baby looks so sweet. She's all huddled up next to a foam insert in the back of the bator with her head lying on the insert like a pillow. She's worn out from all the hard work.

I meant has he realised it is an EI?

Another has hatched, and they appear to be fighting. Do any of you know if I should be worried about that? I've never seen ducklings do this before, but all the ones I've had before were hatched by the mother.

No, can't say I have. You sure they're fighting? Is the older one doing the "grab-twist-shake" head motion? If you're that concerned you could try to place the new hatch in the brooder, but I know that's awfully risky...

I'm kind of afraid to move either of them this soon since they're supposed to stay in the hatcher right now. There's a third one zipping right now that will probably be out in the next 15 minutes
