another big congrats fiz

brand new baby duck right out of her shell. Her mother had hopped off the nest for a poo and a swim clearly unaware that she was so close to hatching. We had to stop her from running around the yard saying 'are you my mother?' to everything that moved. I think she's going to be a little magpie I'll post another picture tomorrow after she fluffs up.

So very sweet! Can't wait to see another pic!

Well I did have to check if it was fertilized which strange enough it was, but I cannot have any babies right now because the aviary isn't finished yet ( like the plants and pool are not in yet) so I after I broke it I fed it to one of the muscovies, I really didn't want to break it at all but I was so curious and I just couldn't have any more call ducks at this time

I'm curious... what was Mickey's hatch date? I am anxiously and impatiently waiting for Lady Grey to lay, lol... I know it will be Spring before she does, but I still keep hoping...

She hatched on the second of may so she is just barely over 6 months.

Wow!! Umm, but if she hatched May 2nd then she's just barely over 5 months old... Lady Grey hatched May 18th...
