ok, i got last nights done
Nathaniel stood in disbelief. What had happened? It all seemed so sudden, so fast and now she was gone and it was all his fault. He sank to the floor and put his head in his arms. Beth’s dog, Limber, looked on in concern. He padded over and put his nose on Nathaniel's head, sniffing this way and that, trying to comfort the only other human he loved.
“Don't touch me!” Nathaniel shouted and pushed the dog away.
Limber let out a yelp as he was shoved to the floor. He scrambled to his feet.
Carefully, so as not to earn another moment of pain, he went to the bed. The bed where Beth was. Beth could fix this. She could make her friend feel happy again!
Limber jumped up so that his front paws were on the bed. He licked Beth’s hand. It was cold and still. Limber let out another whine. Why wasn't she waking up?
“No!” Nathaniel exclaimed, “Get away from her!”
He grabbed the dog, put him outside and slammed the door shut.
Through the window Limber could see Nathaniel. If he didn't want him there, he wouldn’t press it.
Slowly Limber turned away and walked into the woods.
It was cold and the snow came down in thick sheets.
Limber found a hollow behind a tree and lay down. Slowly he drifted into a deep sleep. He dreamt of green meadows and of his many friends. He dreamt of rivers and butterflies and his bone but most of all he dreamt of Beth, but Beth was gone now. He would never see her again, and slowly, he drifted out of his dreams into darkness.

“Limber! Is that you?”
Slowly he opened his eyes. He blinked a couple times and then stood up. A warm breeze blew through his shaggy fur. He looked up. Standing there smiling was Beth, as beautiful and kind looking as ever! Limber let out a happy bark and the two of them ran off together into a great green meadow filled with butterflies.

Alright, I JUST woke up from a nap, and haven't written in ages. It's gonna be rough and really rusty at first. Brain no worky. 😂 I hope no one minds me using an earlier prompt, just to get the wheels turning. Also if anyone could tell me how to do spoilers, that would be great!
TW: Mention of alcohol abuse(please tell me if this is an unacceptable thing to have in these forums, especially since it is only fictional.)
Disclaimer: I know nothing about alcohol or recovery, so... *Shrug*.

Prompt: "How much did you hear?".

Fear shot through him like a lightning bolt when he first noticed her presence. His anger was still boiling in his gut, and the sound of Troy's hurried, retreating footsteps still echoed in his head.

"How much did you hear," Ray asked, still turned to the bright embers in the study fireplace.

The muted cries from the shadows was enough to tell him that she had heard too much.

He sighed, and briefly closed his eyes. Had he just sacrificed more than he had bargained to? He wasn't regretting what he had done, only that she knew.

"You promised."

Jess's quivering voice gripped Ray's heart hard. She had believed in him, she said. Tried to help him keep from succumbing to his anger ever since Troy, his long time enemy, had shown up to work for Ray's uncle for the summer.

He swallowed, and squeezed his eyes shut again. Maybe he shouldn't have threatened Troy. Was it worth this girl's tears?

She had only come into his life a few short months prior, when she had come to them in need when she flew in to live with her flake of a brother several counties over, only to be left with no way home, and no way out. She'd gotten back on her own feet, but in that time had grown close enough to Ray to recognize the potentially explosive anger he harboured for this one individual, and to care that he was constantly suffering in the pit of depression his anger was causing him. She tried to help him, and he had begun to soften. He had learned to be better. Or she thought he had.

"What are you doing," Jess asked sadly. "I thought you were better than this."

Ray's mind immediately shut itself to her. Those words...

"I thought you were better than this."

Ray's eyes were downcast as he received the verbal beating from his older best friend, Troy. He had done it again, just like always. Given into the drinks he could never leave behind. Head hammering again, no memories of the night before. Troy had tried to help him stop. He'd been trying for years, and Ray had been clean for four months, even. But no, he always went back to them.

Troy's smouldering look of disappointment hurt him down to his bones.

"You know what Ray? When is this going to stop? Over and over, you tell me you're done. I've tried to help you pick yourself back up again, and over and over you just go right back to the alcohol. You know what that tells me? That our friendship isn't enough. I've always been here to support you, Ray. What do you do with that friendship? You throw it in the trash right next to those empty bottles. I'm done. I'm leaving. So straighten yourself out, I'm not helping you anymore, and I can't see you like this. I've watched this for too long. Maybe... Maybe I'll be your friend again, if you really prove you've changed. But Ray? I'm done. Goodbye."

His only good friend, after sticking by his side relentlessly for eight years, gone just like that. And Ray had never forgiven him. Oh, he'd straightened himself out alright. Only after weeks of heavy drinking followed by months of rehab. Rehab rehab, rehab up to his nose and out his ears, he was sick of it. Rehab until the impulse to drink was wiped from his wiring. But it worked. And he didn't need Troy's approval, the approval of someone who didn't really care whether he got better or not.

"I thought you were better than this."

Ray's body stiffened, and he blew hot air out his nose. He turned around and glared. "You know what, Jess," he sneered in a low, angered voice. "You can't change anything, and when you realize that you can't make me into the perfect man you envisioned, you will turn around and leave so STOP it."

Jess's eyes had been fixed on his, but with his cruel words, they melted into tears and she began quietly sobbing. "I don't know what happened between you and Troy-" she tried.

"You're right, you don't, so stop thinking you can do anything at all to fix something you don't know anything about!"

"Ray. Please, I can't see you like this."

"SHUT UP!"

With that, she took her chance to bolt from the study. She slammed the door as she went, and ran up the winding stairs.

Ray listened to her steps retreating into the house.

After a few silent minutes, he slowly began to realize what he had done. A few tears rolled down his cheek. He sank into the couch, and cried.

Alone.

From there, write whatever you want the title to be. In this case, I wrote "Click me". If you want the title to just display the word "Spoiler", then leave it blank.
