ok, i got last nights done
Nathaniel stood in disbelief. What had happened? It all seemed so sudden, so fast and now she was gone and it was all his fault. He sank to the floor and put his head in his arms. Beth’s dog, Limber, looked on in concern. He padded over and put his nose on Nathaniel's head, sniffing this way and that, trying to comfort the only other human he loved.
“Don't touch me!” Nathaniel shouted and pushed the dog away.
Limber let out a yelp as he was shoved to the floor. He scrambled to his feet.
Carefully, so as not to earn another moment of pain, he went to the bed. The bed where Beth was. Beth could fix this. She could make her friend feel happy again!
Limber jumped up so that his front paws were on the bed. He licked Beth’s hand. It was cold and still. Limber let out another whine. Why wasn't she waking up?
“No!” Nathaniel exclaimed, “Get away from her!”
He grabbed the dog, put him outside and slammed the door shut.
Through the window Limber could see Nathaniel. If he didn't want him there, he wouldn’t press it.
Slowly Limber turned away and walked into the woods.
It was cold and the snow came down in thick sheets.
Limber found a hollow behind a tree and lay down. Slowly he drifted into a deep sleep. He dreamt of green meadows and of his many friends. He dreamt of rivers and butterflies and his bone but most of all he dreamt of Beth, but Beth was gone now. He would never see her again, and slowly, he drifted out of his dreams into darkness.
“Limber! Is that you?”
Slowly he opened his eyes. He blinked a couple times and then stood up. A warm breeze blew through his shaggy fur. He looked up. Standing there smiling was Beth, as beautiful and kind looking as ever! Limber let out a happy bark and the two of them ran off together into a great green meadow filled with butterflies.
