My bantam hen was severely picked on and I brought her inside to heal. Her head and comb were picked and she was bleeding quite a bit. I cleaned her up and applied bacitracin ointment to her head and comb. I have not reapplied since the night of the inury. Her comb received the worst of the attack. It seems like she may have had a chunk taken out. It is black around the top edges where it has scabbed over, but there is a small white spot on her comb just beneath the scab. Is this just her comb being discolored due to the trauma, or is it an infection? There is nothing oozing and it doesn't feel hot. She is eating, pooping and otherwise "normal"....except that she doesn't like being confined in the house. I know if I put her back out, it is a death sentence...until she heals.
Any thoughts or suggestions? Should I reapply the ointment or just let it heal on its own? (She is a Belgian Bearded D'uccle bantam)
