i can't believe they didn't assess the yard before letting the dogs out to see whether there was an obvious reason for them to be in the garage. i wonder if they saw the dogs go after the chickens when they let the dogs out. jeesh.

my guess is they tried it and it was open.

just a very frustrating event. I'm not sure who did it, I dont even know if I want to know (in case kind words elude me). I know whoever did it thought they were doing good, but as was said earlier

I would want to know which neighbor did it so that it could be made crystal clear that no such thing is ever to happen again. I would be very clear that you put your animals where they are for a reason and that no one is to come on your property and turn any animals loose! Make sure they know exactly what happened as a result of their actions. I would be furious!!

I would go door to door until I found out who did it. Otherwise they may feel the urge to "help" you again in the future. I would try to keep my cool while describing exactly what I returned home to.
