red,

Yes, a "perfect" Millie fluer or porcelain, or any mottled for that matter is supposed to have each feather tipped off in a white V .
But yes, you are right too, it takes 2 years to see the full effect of their mottling pattern. They are one of the slowest developing of the patterns.

Now with that, yes like all birds, some have it, some dont, and some even have too much.

A perfect "world class" millie should have a red base, then toward the tip of each feather, ( excluding the tail, it's all black with the white tip) it should be chevroned (V ' ed) in black, and finally tipped off in white.
Genetically speaking, it's a very complex pattern and yep, few birds express it in a perfect way.

The tail tips are usually the last ones to develop it. In my eyes, it's better to have one lacking a little tipping, than it is to have one with white blobs of color all over it.

here's one coming 2

Could you post a picture of some of your columbian projects. I have a buff columbian roo and I think a coronation looking roo, but I can't tell the difference between the pocelain boys and a coro boy.

Are there any notice-able temperament differences or egg laying numbers between them? Will they go broody?

They are about the same as far as that goes. D'anver males may be a bit fiestier

In addition to what Cynthia said about them, there are also slight feather type differences as well as body posture and carrage
