d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

Usually, the fights aren't really that bloody. No matter how long you keep them separated, they'll have to duke it out when they get together.

Here are Aubrey (first pic) and Angus today. I think Angus has really super nice chest patterning.

Dang skippy there be pics of My Little Love, ain't he just the most handsome thing?. Well of course he was allowed to range with the big girls, that toerag lost that privilege after I got my hands on Rufus. Look at that boy cuddle with Daddy...I have ruined your rooster, my job there is done. muahahahahahahahahahahahaha *looks around for the evil smiley*

Aubrey! Here're some pictures of the pair I bought at the local poultry swap. Can you tell me what color they are and your thought about them. They look kind of pale compare to at the swap.

Do they are quail no doubt. That male has some beautiful color to him, the hen is a bit pale, but they can do that threw the year, if she hasnt molted yet, she'll darken back up most likely when she does, just summer bleached I think. The only weak thing I see on them just right off is the males comb isnt spiked, which is common. But they are supposed to look like Cynthias Millie fluer male above, same shape just full of little spikes.
Look good for swap meet chickens

As for the boys, like Cyn said, if you keep seperating them and trying it again and again, they'll just keep fighting everytime. These guys are grumpy when new boys come around, but no, they are bloody like many other roos can be. One reason is that small rose comb isnt as easy to grap ahold to as a single. But if they are gone be together, you have to just bit the bullet and let them duke it out til they are done.

Beautiful birds to find at a swap. I adore that male. I think the quail males are absolutely stunning with their dark hackles and light breast.

Thanks Aubrey. I just do not like them fighting and do not want to take a chance of one of them going to be dead. Look like this new pair going to be by themself in their own pen.
