Update on the Lavender Cuckoo project.
Finally, It's offically done. Just hatched my first true lavender cuckoo d'anvers today, pale blue, white belly and most importantly, that white dot on the back of the head!
I have had these 2 males done, but no hens came from that batch last year only a split black hen (she still only made blacks?), so on advise of the chicken calculator, I breed the 2 males as it said to do, and low and behold, they are all coming out correct!!! Finally I have a breedable population, AND a new creation in the d'anver world!
So proud I could about pop, LOL
Needless to say, there will be quite a few more of these going in the incubator before I break this pen up to do another lavender project.
Also been getting a few eggs now from the pyle and crele projects for the first F1 cross, hope to have those done with one more generation, hopfully this fall....Will keep yall posted

That's exciting! I love that color, being a Barred Rock fan. I prefer lavender on a bantam bird; not really fond of it on LF. Glad your project is turning out so well!

Me too, bantam for sure on the lavender, dont know what it is, but you're right, it just dont look good on a big bird, but then I'm kind of prejudice on the size anyway! LOL
and yep, looking good on these, great patterning to the hatches so far this year, hope they all go this smooth!

In sanctioned events, there are 14 recognised colors in the US. Lavender Cuckoo, is most certainly not one of them, too new.

Hello! I think I found the D'anver thread.

I love these little chickens. My kids and I are having so much fun with them. I got most of them from Boggy Bottom Bantams.....they turned out really nice. We've been hatching a few babies. I'm trying to post a couple of pics....not sure if I'm doing this right, but I'll give it a try.
