My experience is don't even think it. I lost a full pen of birds that were in the middle pen, to a fox. all were due to be cleaned up for a show that weekend then moved inside the best birds of that variety I had raised to date and it was breed nationals. Now th ereally good ones go straight to conditioning pens and moved out to breeder pens after eveything else is over. I even set up indoor breeder pens for select trios and quads to really keep them safe.

yea im learning that as well
hate to loose the good ones

That's so sad, I'm sorry for your loss.

I am sure they will lay when the days get a little longer. Mine are in pens in a building. Its dark when I get home from work so I turn the lights on to do the feeding. Then leave it on till about 8 or 8:30 so the can finish eating their treats (BOSS, scratch or meal worms depending on what I have). That ( longer hours of light) might have something to do with it.

They'll get there eventually Cynthia, JJ might be right too with the light thing he's doing. I've got about 5 pens laying now, but about Feb they should all start

I want eggs! Itty bitty pretty D'anver eggs! I even have six tiny wooden eggs in the nests that I spray painted with some glossy almond paint that was here at the house. They're almost the exact size. All they do is play around and keep losing them in the shavings. They must think they're playing D'Anver Football in there.
