Yeah, I see what you mean, I have a couple breeder pens...but how happy are they in the tiny space? I just have 1 serama hen but she has a medium sized run with my sebrights to run around with.

Believe me I feel the same way. This is temporary, this spring I will be building a 6x4 coop with a 6x4 run for each color. Picture chicken townhouses. I have the drawings about done and I am working on the materials list.

jj

Oh, that sounds very cute. Post pics in the spring when you finish.

oh woops. i had no idea. sorry lol.

forgot to add, mine are just a mess right now, they are a F1 cross from silver lace old english to silver quail, they come out silver, but that pattern is all over the place. I'll have to bacj breed these next year and pick out the good laced ones, then repeat the process to pure them back up...that's the problem with laced it's going to take me about 8 years to get them right...

Aubrey,
I might be able to save you some trouble, I have a very old article that was scanned in, can't remember where I found it but it is from teh original development of teh silver laced wyandotte and discusses how to choose the breeder birds and pair up to resolve the many problems related to lacing. I will e-mail you a copy.

It was published in 1891 and includes inetrviews from the originators of teh breed, thier selection techniques, what worked and did not work. 124 fun filled pages of excellent poultry reading.

That'd be great, cause I'm working on several laced colors in d'anver and plan to start them in phoenix and ohiki as well, so any thing that could help info wise would be great....Thanks
