They are getting close to the record for being the latest to lay ever around here. Had an EE who started at 40 weeks and I think my banty Cochin was about 41 or 42 weeks when she started.

Aubrey, didn't you say they are not super broody, just sort of like once a year types?

Aubrey, thanks for the response about the eggs in PM. I was telling my son about the dun quail and of course he wanted to see them. I made the mistake of going to your webpage and pictures form there.

He has now decided he wants some of everything. He especially likes the silver quail. We'll just have to see how things go from here.

My wife just rolls her eyes and shakes her head.

yep that's right, I pull all my eggs of course, but if left with them, they usually will brood. I only do it at the tail end of the season. Usually by then I'm so tired of hatching eggs Honestly I just dont care any more..so I let them have a whurle at it. Now if you wanted to just let them do it from the get go, you may be able to get more out of them. But No they arent like silkies or cochins by no means.

By the way...how'd you get that cool little "fo sell" image at the bottom of your sig??? I like that!

No problem Roger... I think I like your son, he and I have the same problem....want them all
I'm the same way with all of my major breeds I keep. I want all they come in, and if they dont come in it, I find a way to make them.
Will be glad to help yall out some. The silver quail are booking up fast though...Havent even OFFICALLY started taking orders but bet they are booked threw May or so already
