JJ that one on the left wants to come live in Kentucky...he told me so. You know how I am about them ugly chicks, and that thing is just plain homely, better ship it right away.

Those are the same thing I was talking about, all 3 are whites. Those smokey colored ones are just over a different base is all I can figure out and end up with an odd chick down. But I get about 10-20% of mine to hatch that way too. No biggie they will be white when they grow up.

JJ,

I use 1/4" hardware cloth on the bottoms fow all chicks under a month old just due to the tiny feet
After that I move them to a 1/2" mesh. They can walk on it much easier by then and the poop falls threw better helping keep the chicks cleaner.

He told me he didn't want to go live with those hairy legged horrors.

Penny and Aimee have three chicks each hatched. Aimee has two of her own and one of Shadow's-the chick in Carly's egg under her is alive, but not yet pipped.

Penny has one of hers and two of Shadow's hatched-the last unpipped one belongs to Penny and we don't know if it's alive or not, can't hear anything in the egg. May candle later if it hasn't pipped.

It's really dark or I'd try for pictures, but they're mostly under their mamas, except for one very brave soul. One of Aimee's kids is a very dark colored mille and is so brave, already eating and drinking, that Aimee scolded it and made it go back underneath her.

All three of Shadow's hatched appear lavender-no black chicks, so guess the porcelains have claimed Shadow for themselves. I have seen Rufus mate Shadow so I do expect that one of the eggs in the bator or the one under Molly could be black.

Aimee's last egg (which belongs to Carly) is pipped.

The last one under Penny (which was actually Penny's own chick), had expired late in the game, apparently, and we removed it from her so she is finished with hers.

Penny hatched two Coch'anvers and one mille fleur d'Anver.
Aimee hatched one Coch'anver and, if the last one does hatch with no issue, three mille fleur d'Anvers-two of those are her own babies.

Hopefully, before long, they'll be getting off the nest to eat, drink and poop. I'm sure one of them is about to explode-one did get off yesterday and left a very smelly mess before returning to her eggs, LOL. I think that must have been Aimee since Penny was always harder to get off her eggs.
