d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

Pretty birds Cynthia and DanielaZ

Aubrey, Thanks for the help identifying the babies. Looks like I have at least one of each of the colors ordered...more of some than others...development will soon tell. They are sure healthy little buggers.

looking good on the chicks Cynthia

JJ

mine usually pip on day 19 , out on day 20 too

I run at 100 though, that extra 1/2 degree cuts off a day... 1/2 cool will delay a day

Same here but this is day 19. I do it the same every week, put them in on wednesday, lock down on sunday, hatch tuesday night. Cant find anything different temp wise. Store the eggs in my basement so they shouldn't start early. I don't know?

Can anyone help me identify the colors of these babies? Both parents are Blue Quaill. Not the best picture but shows the three main colors in the flock.

Hi, JJ! Did you find any property in KY? Are you thinking of moving there some day?

Oh, I have my keepers now and only my keepers left. The rest of the D'Anvers and Coch'anvers, in addition to a Barred EE and a Delaware, as well as Rufus, believe it or not, are zooming toward KY as I type.

Here are Mille Fleur d'Anver pullets, Mina (8 wks) & Lucy (6 wks, heavily marked) with the two lav Coch'Anver pullets, Misty and Opal (6 wks), the BR pullet, Dru (8 wks) and the Delawegger cockerel I'm keeping to add to the main flock, Gideon (5 wks):

No, Just trying to aggravate LH. I think she is ignoring me.

When it's time for me to move(if I ever get to retire) I am going to WV.

They are blue quail ,splash quail ,and quail. The parents each have one copy of the Bl(blue) gene which is what makes them blue. So you should get 50% blue chicks, 25% will have 2 copies of Bl which makes them splash and 25% will have no Bl genes which makes them black(normal quail).

just like JJ said, you got all 3 versions

the quail are the 2 black ones, looks like 3 blue quail, the blue ones, and the 2 near white ones in the bowl are your splash quail (you'll really like those)
