d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

Thanks, Kathryn. I had never even thought about the little 10 week old cockerel crowing-he'll be 10 weeks on Monday, actually- was waiting for my Delawegger male to crow, which he just did day before yesterday for the first time at 11 weeks old. So, when this little fella belted one out, then another and was hit with the full force of Daddy, our mouths hung open; he yelled, then mama stepped in to shield him. Molly is an amazing broody, still mothering the kid at 10 weeks of age.

Adding more pics. Here is Little Man, who is Carly's son. I may sell him with Lucy as a pair. She is just two weeks older than he is. Looks like JJ was right-Molly must have been plucking his beard. Looks to be growing back in now:

Aubrey, here is your namesake with his "Purple Princess", Shadow. You're nicer than he is, LOL. He loathes the camera. He molted out his long sickles so his tail looks a tad straight up right now.

The new recruits, Misty and Opal (Don't look, JJ!), Lucy and Mina.

What is it????
Cynthia- It's was too late I seen them. But anyway Don't tell anybody from Kentucky but look what is living here now.

Question for you: Would it be okay to sell Aubrey with Mina as a breeding pair, though Mina is only 14 weeks old now? Of course, I'd make that plain that she has a ways to go before she is of breeding/laying age, but they would eventually be a good breeding pair to produce splits and get more porcelains (well, if Mina herself is a split, and we can't know that for sure, the first chicks could be porcelains, right?)

they look good Cynthia, like I said yesterday, great mama they have and it shows!

Yes it should be fine to sell those as a pair, and they should do just like you are thinking breeding wise.

Aubrey, Is it raining down there? Looked awful on TWC.
is that supposed to be some kinda JOKE???? HAHA

It's pretty much rained every day here since that Tropical Storm came threw a couple weekends ago. at least 7 days straight now, and in the forecast threw at least next Friday at 50 -70% each day...... I've been trying for 2 weeks to go to Mexico Beach snapper fishing but it just wont let up! Pensacola FL which isnt far from there I see got over 13 inches yesterday.....
At least the chickens stay dry under their roofs all day. Doesnt do me much good feeding them every evening in the down pours though, get my butt soaked every day, seems like 5-6 when I get in is the heaviest rain we get all day...like it's timed out for me or something.

Think the 10 year long deep south drought may be over haha

Sorry, did't realize all that was going on. Usually don't pay much attention to the weather unless it is happening in my yard. Was just passing through upstairs last evening and the wife was watching TWC. I heard Pensacola, I was born there, so I stopped long enought to see the radar. Looked bad.
