There are 15 colors in the ABA and 9 in the APA standards.
Those can compete . The others can and are shown but can't compete with the best of groups in the standard colors.
ABA colors are
Quail , blue quail, black, blue, splash, self blue, mille fleur, porcelain, white, cuckoo , bb red, buff, Columbian, buff Columbian, and one more that's escaping me at the moment.

As this thread is where the topic came up.....I must show off the pink camo sweater I just made for me Delaweggar Junebug.....hehe hehe. Tomorrow she will try it on and them get the closures put in place. Yeah I need this single digit snow crap gone....I am crocheting sweaters for my birds because I am stuck inside. LOL

The eggs are going into Day 17 tonight after 5 p.m. Monday night, I will remove the turner and up the humidity and wait. Will be fun having a full view window on the incubator for once. I've spot candled a few and every one is full of moving chick that I pick up so I'd say most of the 14 should hatch.

Penny and Mina are sharing a nest and we are taking away any eggs they manage to steal to sit on. It's the coldest winter since we've lived up here, consistently cold, many single digit nights with negative windchills, so not a good time for any chicks to hatch out there. I just don't want to deal with that yet.

I brought my Milli d'Uccle in yesterday. His comb isn't looking good and he has the lime green poo. He is acting good and eating. I don't know what's going on with him. The green poo worries me more than the comb.

Speckledhen and Ladyhawk no doubt you all have some fine roosters in Spike and Rusty, but if it came down to a congenial chicken contest I am afraid they would both pale in comparison to a Virginia gentleman named Ugg Lee Roostwarmer. What he lacks in color, type and just overall appearance (and that is a lot), He makes up ten fold in temperament. He reminds me of a dog I used to have, when you go in the pen he will come stand beside you and lean against your leg.

Check his crop, Karen. Is it hard and huge? The green usually means he isn't getting food through. Happened with a D'Anver rooster I had. No idea why, maybe his heart was failing-his crop was huge and hard suddenly. We removed everything in his crop, but he slowly went downhill anyway. The crop is a symptom of what's going on in the system, not usually the problem itself. He could be eating, but it may not be leaving the crop. Take away all solid food for a day, just water, and see if the crop is emptying. No need to add more food to an already too full crop, if it's hard now. The dark color in the comb seems like it may be that his heart is failing.

JJ, I like your friendly rooster's looks! He may not be ready for a show, but he's handsome!

Just checked Jim and it doesn't seem overly big or hard. I took the good out so I can recheck this evening.

Could the fact I've had a hard time keeping eater in their coop have anything yo do with it?

You mean water? I hope I'm interpreting the typo correctly. They must have water and never be out of it. Chickens are huge water consumers and lack of it interrupt proper working of the crop. That's so hard in winter when it freezes. We have defrosters on all waterers and they do fine unless the temps get to near zero, which they have many times in recent days. And we're in it again tomorrow night. As far as his coloring, I don't know that water would have anything to do with that. That seems like his systems are shutting down. Could be his heart or kidneys or both. It's just too difficult to say for sure.
