d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

I wish consent to My Little Love being tagged as "weird" and/or "goofy". Yes he fell in love with me, his xxl quarantine dog crate, a tree branch and a bunch of Asian woman with funny dog's BUT he is my sweetie, once he gives you the required love nip.

Rufus went to live with Ladyhawk in Kentucky. The original Rusty is long gone to live with a lady who didn't mind his pitbull ways. I called this one Rusty2 because he acts like his Uncle Rusty. Oh, c'mon, Karen, you really must keep all our rooster dramas straight. There will be a test at the end of this thread.

Your eggs leave the turner tonight. Tonight, Day 18 begins. Every one I spot check has a chick that looks fully developed in it so hoping for a good hatch, at least 12 out of the 14, if not more.

Look who is back to almost normal. I have to come up with a new name for him. He was a very late bloomer and was named Clementine.

Well, that's great! Clem is a man's name, you know. Don't have to change it too much unless you just want to. Could be he was having a hard time with the extreme cold. You said you had no electricity in the coop. Did you have any heat lamps in there when we hit near zero? That might have been all it was, the cold got to him some.

? If my naughty D'anver was making babiez with a silkie hen that lays an egg twice the size of a D'anvers egg? Would the chick not fill the egg if it was daddy sized? I thought the Daddy was my choc bantam Orp, but I caught the hen letting Tweedle get busy recently. I have a chick that pipped two days early, and there is an amazing amount of room at the end of the egg. I am hoping it slows down as the membrane is still carrying alot of blood. Its nose is out and getting air but I have tented the egg with a damp paper towel, to keep it moist. Not much else to do but wait.
