I never considered altitude being a factor in hatching eggs...or laying for that matter. Sounds like a master's thesis in the making. I'm going to retire from teaching junior high soon. Anybody want to join me in an experiment?

Pics today! First up, my buddy, Spike. Ain't he handsome?? I love his shape and especially his personality.

This is Jenny, the little minx we almost lost to cocci. She is still the smallest, but quite spunky. I'm thinking she and her sister are about 33 wks old.

Sissy, who had cocci, but wasn't as bad off as Jenny.


Guineviere, who is a couple of weeks older.


The two broodies, Mina on the left and Penny on the right. They're on Day 5, I think.

Cynthia how old are Rusty and the girls?

Rusty is about 37 weeks old and I think those two pullets are about two weeks younger than he is. I had several groups with different broodies hatching at the same time. Rusty and Guinevere were raised with Indy (who was killed by Isaac) by my EE hen, Maretta, who is once again broody. Indy was two weeks older than Rex, who is now, on my calendar, 35 weeks old, so that means Rusty is 37 weeks.

Well Randy went out and met Rusty. LOL!!! Went great. He open the cage door and Rusty shot out at him. He left the garage door open and of course Rusty went flying out. Beau and Rusty were puffing up at each other and Randy was able to grab Rusty.

He cane carrying him in saying he flew out at me and after I caught him he bit me. I tried real hard not to laugh....

Thanks! I completely agree! If I was the showing type, I'd have that boy in the ring and I think I'd have a chance. The lighter colored chest would be a personal like or dislike with a judge, I'd think, but Spike has it all going on, doesn't he? Comes from some great stock.
