I allowed Spike, Aimee and the two 11 week old LF pullets that Aimee raised to leave the pen today for some brief free range time. Aimee did not want to stop eating worms, grass and clover, so she got to stay out longer under close supervision after the others were put back.

In these last pics, you can see the teensy feather stubs Aimee has that sometimes passes on to her chicks, sometimes like hers and sometimes in fully feathered legs. I noticed that about 1/3 of her daughters get them but so far, every cockerel out of her has them, not surprising since the mothers pass traits to their sons. Good thing she mostly produces pullets!
