d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

We did piers on our main coop, which is on a pretty big slope, but this wasn't that bad. The current bantam coop was put on about the most level piece of ground on our 5 acres other than our own house. I just want for once to have someone else build something. Though I do like the process, I'm not sure I have a big barn left in me, LOL.

Oh, JJ, yoohoo, JJ! You wanna come down to Georgia and build me that 12'x 20' barn next year?

Now I saw that post and raised my eyebrow, scratched my head, and thought "Well now Im not getting any signs mine is getting ready.". LOL... I didn't pay attention and thought it was Cynthia. Now I can't remember how old they are.

I was very surprised mine started laying already! They hatched April 16th! They are in with some other d'Anver pullets a few months older that started laying a couple of months ago and my bantam Polish that lay like crazy, so maybe that motivated them to start.

Mine are in with other babies and in a grow out coop. I'll have to go back and see when they hatched. I'm thinking June, but all the dates have run together. LOL. I've had 11 broodies so far. I got these from Speckledhen.

Edited to add: Counting back from when I got them they should have hatched around June 5th. I have a few months before I expect eggs.

Karen, thinking they hatched at the end of May. I lose track after they leave me.

Front and back walls framed except the window in the front wall. They're just toenailed in, not leveled, waiting for the end walls to be constructed. I think tomorrow should be sunny so we may be able to get those done and start on the roof rafters then.

Only one of my d'Anver hens has ever gone broody and she got bored after a few days and went back to being an escape artist.
