I am so happy that have found Boggy Bottom Bantams! Many years ago when I had a large mixed flock of chickens I ended up with a couple of Quail hens and a roo. Didn't those tiny birds just get into my heart. I had to give them away to the goat farm down the street when we sold our house because we were so focused on building our new home while living in our fifth wheel. Two adults, a teenager, and two dogs, wow was that an experience.

Well, almost six years later, I now have a new group of both Quail and Porcelain on order and cannot wait!! Why I didn't think of getting a little group of them earlier is beyond me. Its going to be a tough wait but they should be here in April sometime and I will post lots of pictures. Thank you Aubrey for all of your info on this blog and via e-mail.

What do you think, are they?

If they are what color do you thank they are?

(BTW they have beards they just dont show well in the pics)

dont look like any color I have ever seen in them, which is saying a lot.
They are bearded a little and look to have a rose comb and dark legs.... not real sure of the breed though, pretty sure they arent d'anvers unfortunately. They would be quail if ordered from a hatchery which they surely were.
They are brownish and black patterned chick with a pale cream beard /face as chicks.
Keep us posted on them as they mature, would be cool to see if they did turn into some for you.

my guess would be something like faverolles or ameraucanas or however they spell them two LOL

The eggs arrived this morning and I have them sitting on top of the bator with all the standard breeds I'll be hatching this time around. Aubrey, thank you for deciding to include that one porcelain egg that was cracked. We sealed the crackle with parrafin wax and hopefully, it will develop. Will let you know how the incubation goes.

for a good number to hatch! We got materials to continue their new coop and tomorrow, hope to have the roof on at least.
