oh no, that sounds perfect. There should be no issues with keeping back as many cockerels as you want, they dont fight if raised together anyway. I usually run 2-4 males per breeding pen here anyway.
Glad the remaining ones decided to hang in there for you.

Yes, I know that. No matter how anxious and excited I am, they can hatch on their own, I promise; that is unless one of the two remaining porcelains is having trouble and I have to throw it a tiny life preserver, LOL.

ETA:

Day 19 begins about 6 p.m. tonight! The coop is almost finished, too. Roosts are being installed and will begin painting inside today, barring complications. There is a brooder out there for when I can't stand them in the house any longer--if near the 61 chicks hatch that are still in the bator, that might be 3 days, LOL. DH will be dealing with the electric for the heat lamps today as well, if he feels okay. I think he's worn out from pushing to get this building completed.

I have a pip! A porcelain D'Anver egg is pipped on Day 19!

It's a porcelain, a porcelain! I lost a special Ameraucana hen today and this will help a great deal. My long anticipated D'Anvers are hatching! Day 20 starts in about five hours.

ETA: I had both porcelains pipped before Day 20, both porcelains!

ETA, again: The first MF D'anver has pipped, on the small end, so I have 3 out of 9 of those on their way out soon.

Hey guys my partner just sent me a newbie and I am pretty positive is a Belgian D'anver but a color i've never seen before ?? D'anver Breeders i'd love you guy's input because this is a first for me with this breed. What do you think of this cock and what coloring is this ? His comb point has been tore off probably by a fight with another bird. The quail colored cock my partner has had a perfectly round good shaped rose comb point and this guys comb seems fine with the exception he has lost his point.. Next question is how will I find hens ???

I'd love to see more pictures of any D'anvers if possible! Most of all i'd love to see more of this coloration.

I've got tons of pics on here and 280 or so on the website.
I am just guessing, but sure that bird traces back to Mike Fratto doesnt it.
Those are duns, I have quite a few from him, he has the dun quail, it's where mine came from. He as did I, bred the dun quail to blacks and black mottled last year in an attempt to get solid duns and dun mottleds going. I now have both. That bird is most likely a cross over the solid black. The color it has is from the quail pattern leaking threw.
Breed it back to black hens and you will them help clean him up and have a more solid coloration. Then from there you can also get the khakis, they are VERY beautiful.
Congrats on him though, dun in d'anver just plain isnt available to anyone, anywhere in the world, not even in Europe

Oh wow! Not sure who Mike Fratto is but glad to hear my new bird is fairly special and I will aggressively hunt for new stock. SO now I need to hunt for some black hens ? Anyone have eggs or birds for sale ? I will offer back eggs or juvi birds for the help I get to get started.

Mike's the only one I know of who originated the dun in d'anver, pretty sure they can at least be traced back to him.

Anyway, I sell eggs or chicks in any color you can think of.

go back to page 60 and you can see some of my recnet pis including my solid duns, they have just a touch of wing bow leakage still too, the hens split to mottled are solid chocolate though. Got them with a black mottled cock right now and hatching 50 50 dun mottled and black mottled off them
