Thanks!!! I'm making a little chicken tractor for them because the other 13 chickens don't like them... however they're my favorites!! The tractor will go in the garden for them to eat the crops that are done... like now it would be the lettuce then beans because those are cold weather crops.

That's really nice of you to accomidate them like that. Little do the other girls know that the two "outcasts" are going to have the best food there is, hahahaha. It's good they have each other

Yep, it's hilarious at first they fought and fought... Until the d'anvers fake mom (I brought her home when she was a pullet, but the other chicken, a brahma, decided it was her daugter

)settled the fight... Ever since then they've been bestfriends. The OEGB even makes VERY loud clucks while the d'anver does her little high pitched squeal to find eachother. LOL

spoiled freakin rotten aint they Sam

I hear ya on the high pitched screach the d'anver hens make too. Try feeding 400 of them every evening and a hawk fly over, they'll put your ears out and make you go deaf

Especially now that it's summer and I don't have school. I even crushed some egg shell for them... They loved it!!! So, needless to say, they'll be getting that everyday

I even sprout some lettuce for Olive the d'anver since that's her favorite treat, and in the summer frozen peas

ETA: I love their little screeches... It's very unique!!!

Got some new pics of my BBB babies. I have chosen which Cockerel I am keeping to help produce some beautiful babies. Unfortunately I did not get any Dun Quail males, but I love the three girls that I have. Especially Emily

Omigosh, there are feathers everywhere! This is the time they are losing so many baby feathers and it's almost impossible to keep up with the maintenance in the coop and pens, but I'm trying my best in this awful heat. Drives me nuts since you know how much I hate untidy pens and coops.

Finally, I got a couple pics of the teensy girl, Carly. She's super fiesty, but so adorable. She's maybe 2/3 the size of the other two girls.

Aubrey today. They're 12.5 weeks old. Still no crowing from Angus, but the other three are perfecting theirs. I think Rufus, the one with the best rose comb, is coming out on top. It had been Aubrey, but I saw a little tiff today and Rufus was definitely the winner.

Here is my beat the heat solution for them during the day. This 2 ltr bottle has on the side near the bottom. Some mason's line around the top and hanging from the frame of the coop holds it upright in the dog bowl. We fill with water and freeze it upside down every night and every afternoon, we place it right-side up in the dog bowl with a little water. They have ice cold water the rest of the day as it melts. Works really well.

tell me about it Cynthia!
A lot of my adults are molting also, so it looks like a muder scene out there with all the faethers in the yard and pens, clean them up, just as many again the next morning.

I like the cool water trick too, pretty neat!

nice pics every one
