d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

good to hear they are getting better.
If they are still in blood feather leave them alone, you dont want to damage a soft quill and make them start bleeding. The process is totally normal and they should preen themselves clean. If they feathers are ALL hard at the base now, you can help them out a bit, but BE SURE they are all hard to avoid any more damage to the poor things.

The crums in the beard is fairly common, some seem to stay that way, so never get a problem with it. Guess they are like us, some are messy eaters some arent

It's probably a good thing I am working a few 12 hour days
in a row. I won't have time to pet any chickens!
Thanks for the info, the feathers are hard at the base.
But, I should just let them work it out themselves.

they will on their own, dont worry about it, but if you are bored and want something to do

and all are truely hard now you can help them out, the only ones they have trouble with are a few that dont split and leave a circular tube at the base of the feather. They'll still get them, but have a harder time with it. I have never once helped any of mine...it'll make them lazy

sweeeeettt!!!! I only have one each of the above. I know the columbians can go together but what about the laced? What can I breed her with? I have a pair of millies and a trio of porcelains also.

any or all of those could be bred together, just depends on what you are looking to get.
The columbians are nothing more than non mottled millies or porcelains.
Could bred them over millie or porcelain and get more of them that way, they'd also make some millies and porcelains as yours are split to mottled form my original breeding.

That laced project bird is a result of a millie male over a gold laced hen. To get more correct lacing, it's going to need to be bred back to another gold laced bird to correct color, then continue back to buff columbian or millie fluer for type.

if nothing else, It could be bred back to millie now, will make penciled mottled buff columbians basically
