Aubrey. I have just one more question, tonight anyway. I have pretty much decided what I am going to do next spring, except I have two white pullets. Don't really want a pen of whites right now. I was thinking about putting them in with my silver quail just to build a larger population of birds with silver genes. If I put him with two quail, two splash quail and the two whites, I should be able to tell the chicks apart by color. Is this worth the trouble? I don't really have a place for the whites.

yes,
and yes you will be able to tell them apart. If I'm thinking right, the white chicks being d'anver is rec white should come out all black, but carry the silver and quail genes, they could then be back bred or bred to a silver to diversify the gene pool, something that really needs to be done on them anyway

Those are some good looking birds. The milies are starting to grow on me some.

I have to many wants. I will be building new pens all winter long.

same here.
I've got to get AT LEAST 30 more just for bantam projects over the winter, and about 20 for call ducks. I need to get my butt to work, but I'm about broke right now!!
