d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

Here are the twin broodies. They did well today, went outside (though we had to remove Penny from the nest forcibly-Aimee went out on her own), ate, drank, pooped, screamed at the roosters and went back on the eggs. They went at different times and Aimee left her eggs, sat on Penny's vacated ones, then decided she liked hers better and went back, LOL.

I have two hens that do this over and over again, they seem to go broody at the same time together and raise each others babies as well. the best thing about it is the babies have double the protection when they hatch. My avatar is a pic of them both doing their "thing".

Those broodies are too cute.

I know I don't post much on here, but I just had to tell someone... I have two tiny little Self Blue d'Anvers chicks in the brooder!

jj, 1 will do 10 or so easy. But I keep 2-3 in pens with that many just for good measure. It only takes one go to fertilize a couple weeks of eggs. So would work, but with a couple you have back up to be sure, plus just in case you loose one.

The bb deal may just be because it's early, some times, they dont get in the swing good til warm weather sticks around, then again they may just not be in love...haha
