Indeed that laugh was needed. Cyn Delilah is still with us and no sign of Ruby. I am still looking though. War has been declared...if it don't live here, it is shot on sight. I am carrying and I will shoot dang it.

Howdy folks!

My daughter is showing a little bantam d'anvers pullet. We purchased her from McMurray's, where they are listed as Quail Belgian Antwerp.

I need to know what the proper name is, and their comb type (rosecomb is in its own class, otherwise it's "other", so mostly I need to know whether it is a rosecomb).

I am really in love with our 2 tiny pullets. They are the sweetest, most intelligent and curious (and snuggly) birds we have ever owned. Such a good beginning for showing. DD is 5yo, and is in her first year in 4-H.

Are the standard sizes just as fabulous as these banties? I know y'all are biased, but I am considering getting a few next year when I order some more.

Thanks in advance!

Belgian D'Anvers have a rose comb type. "Rosecombs" is an actual breed of chicken, if I know my chickens correctly-note no spacing. But the D'Anvers have a rose as opposed to a single or pea comb. They have the same type comb as a Wyandotte.

D'Anvers are a true bantam. There is no standard size D'Anver.

Of the 5 chicks with our two broodies, 4 of them have patterned shoulder feathers, one has clear buff. None have any pink in the comb at 18 days old.

No way they're all pullets, not my luck at all, though 4 of them do belong to Aimee and she seemed to throw mostly pullets in the past. The one with the clear buff shoulder feathers is one of hers.

My lavander quail pullet laid her third egg today. I think I am going to pair her up with one of my golden (one silver gene) quail cockerels. So next year I should be able to make both lavander quail and lavander silver quail.
