d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

Thanks. Regardless of size, I will definitely have these in my flock. So much fun.

I had no idea, BTW, that Rosecomb was a breed. Still sooooo much to learn!

So, is "quail" a color?
Yes, Quail is a color. The ABA recognizes 15 colors and the APA recognizes 9 colors. If you go to Aubrey Webb's site http://www.boggybottombantams.com You can see those and a lot more.

Morning friends and combatants...no idea why I just woke from a dead sleep of grandmother exhaustion....I have checked my coop and all is well so checking in on everyone here. Jaw it when this happens.

Very odd having a whirlwind of eight year old energy in the house....had to explain to him that the Arabian in the pasture is just there to be pretty and spoiled when he announced that he would wait until today to ride her. Oh lordy the Diva would have none of that business and she stayed two ARM lengths away from the small whirlwind. Hahahaha

Well sleep well all and hope everyone is okay. Night night.

How do ya'll think my crossbeak is doing? We clipped the bottom beak, try to even it with the top and we keep it filed every week. Looks like she is holding her weight good.

Just make sure you don't let her reproduce as crossbeak is almost always genetic. Cute little girl, though.

The Fab Five are 3 weeks old. If you see any obvious cockerels, let me know. I really don't plan to keep any of them, not unless DH wants to keep the one he finished incubating on the heating pad (the very dark one).

A sad case of Kentucky Leg Fungus if I ever saw one. This one is Aimee's, but why on earth does it have so darn much leg fuzz? The mama has only a few teensy stubs, not actual pajamas, and dad has none! May have to keep this one, too, unless someone just falls in love with it and has to have it. It is really cute.

Cyn- the chick on the left in the first pic looks pretty red and wide in the comb area. That last chick got a bad dose of the leg fungus. Hope it ain't contaigious.

I noticed that one, too, JJ, so I think I have at least one male in this batch, maybe two, but that one is the only one so far with a widening comb. Funny how you can see things in photos that you can't see in person, isn't it?

Maybe it's because the picture is not running all over the place.
