d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

Yeah, exactly what I was thinking. I'm positive I have three pullets. Could have four, but probably not five. Three for sure, though. Better than I'm used to, anyway!

JJ, thanks, wow, so all I have is a porclain, maybe a gold neck cockeral. Never would have thought that coujld happen. Here I was worrying what to do with the extra cockerals, now I might have to find one. I have time.

I will try to get pictures of them all, but they are so hard to take, when they move around so much, and all those millies want on my lap and held.

I must be doing something wrong, I hatch way more roosters than hens. I had a blue quail cockerel run out of the pen this evening flew straigh to the woods and took off running. Then this evening right before dark I saw him up on my building roof. I was going to catch him and he took off flying for the woods again. Then it started raining. Guess I will see if he's still around in the morning. They sure can fly when they want.

My roo is getting so aggressive. He's still let's me cuddle him though (and he is FUN to cuddle with). Hope it's just a phase

Um, probably not a phase. The D'Anvers are known for their aggressive roosters. If you have sweet one, that is the exception, like my Angus was. On the other hand, if you look up pitbull in the dictionary, you'll see a picture of my Aubrey, LOL.

JJ, I hope you find that boy today. At least, it wasn't a pullet who escaped. That would be worse, I'd think.

JJ I hope your little guy shows up...I swear I did not steal him or borrow him.

Okay so today I have a nurse coming for visit from VA and I got very little sleep. I spent several hours.cleaning wounds on my calf given to me by two pint sized coons last night. The little bas err buggers were on my front porch trying to get into a plastic tote when I stepped out to let the 10 lb menace outside. I got scratched by them trying to get the taco bell beast back inside. No bites thank heavens. One did not survive the encounter on the porch with me and the other one barely got away.

Now the funny part, aside from me fighting coons in my Nightie...DH was sitting inside with his headphones on watching an ole three stooges episode. Hahaha

Well more later...got to get ready for nurse visit.

JJ I know it would be a miracle for one to survive outside overnight here. Poor thing. The forces of evil (predators) test my perimeters every night. :(

Yeah, he's always been so sweet though, and is only mean in the morning and at night, so I just try to avoid him then, then he's just a doll most of the time. I'll just try and stay away from him when he's cranky :p

Speaking of high flyers, my little crossbeak Pippa, has a hurt foot- leg? She is limping. Lifts the foot up like she has poop on it before she walks. I don't see any thing under it and it doesn't seem to be swollen. I think she may have landed wrong or got tangled under a small pine root in the run. Should I soak it in epsom salt or I read on another post to crush up B complex on food. Open for any suggestions. I hate to see any of them hurt, but especially her. Just notice this yesterday.

Most of the time (in my limited experience) the bigger the pet you make out of d'Anver roo's the less respect(fear) they will have for you and will constantly try to show you who is boss. And they are hard headed.
