I think he is a Buff Columbian with very light markings...but he could be a Ginger Red... the lighting at that angle wasn't very good.
She was with one rooster for a while that was more of the Buff C markings but the eggs were quitters so I switched her to Spike to see if the embryos would be stronger.
good to see everybody back on, been missing yall.
I was gonna say ginger on both those birds, but could be the light and angle of the pic like you were saying.
Also never heard of pullorum going 5 years, it varys a lot state to state. but is supposed to be an anual test. they have to test a min of 300 birds. If you have less than 300 they have to test all of them, over 300, they test some from each pen til they hit 300.
and the AI yep is 30 birds, here once a year, but also varies state to state.
Also lots of testers do it their own way even if it's not quite to state law. Kinda silly to test 300 birds, if one has it, they all will within a week or so. Also here it's been like 30 years since a bird was ever found with it, so it's be like testing us for small pox or something, you just aint gone have it. But the law requires you to if you ship over state lines or take then to shows.
Personally, those are the good birds anyway, I'd rather see them have to tet all those mongerals at auctions every week.
Anyway good to see and hear from everyone. Just got in from hunting, need to do my rounds.
In Va. They show up at auctions and AI test. I didn't realize it until I took some birds to an auction dropped them off. Three days later I got a paper from the state saying they were clean, a week and a half later I got my check from the auction. They even show up at county fairs and test up to 5 birds per entrant. But Va is a little paranoid because of all the broiler and egg houses.Personally, those are the good birds anyway, I'd rather see them have to tet all those mongerals at auctions every week.
But they check them for leg fungus too! I hear there is an epidemic down that way.JJ, they randomly stop by the local poultry swaps and do blood and swabs. They are relentless about tracking down people via license plates and etc etc. Doesn't bother me...irritates the birds but....
