Daphne’s sick

Pics
Calcium gluconate is in the cattle section and it's liquid.

Do they have Daphne on an antibiotic? Just in case of infection?

So happy to hear she is doing so much better but def talk to the vet about those eggs.

She does eat layer pellets with lots of oyster shell. Would that not be enough? She did not receive an antibiotic as there was no sign of infection and as she was still eating small amounts. Had she not done well overnight, that was the next step. The thought was that the sudden temperature change (from 70 to freezing in a couple of days) caused stress that interrupted her normal laying. One egg got stuck in the oviduct (I think) and became hypercalcified as it spent too long there. It was very difficult to pass, and as she passed it, that egg pulled another egg out with it that was only partly calcified. She is probably finishing laying for the season, so hopefully this will be the end of it! I will definitely be closely monitoring though!

I keep oyster shell out for mine and keep calcium citrate and cal gluconate also on hand sometimes they just need extra and it's always good to have.
Hopefully your right and this was just something that will pass with end of egg laying.
