Dark brown egg laying breeds

Got it--I'm in Southborough, MA. I have no less than three broody hens, too, all of whom will be eager for actual babies to care for.

Oh boy oh boy oh boy!

Just a thought,

The Barnvelder and the Welsummer chicks look allmost identical, so I don't know how we will tell them apart. The Orloffs are wild type also, but the coloring is different.

*stares really hard at Feathersite*

I think the Welsummers have more distinct V-shaped markings on their heads. Um. Maybe.

Do we have enough in the order that they won't need packing peanuts? Maybe Ideal can put spots on one breed for us, so we know?

Edited to add: According to Omlet UK, the Barnevelders are somewhat lighter in color.

Do you think Ideal would mark them in some way for us? I've been told that hatcheries will do that by some one on here.

4 partridge Chanteclers, 3 buff Wyandottes, 3 colombian Wyandottes, 3 buff Plymouth rocks, and 2 buff Cornish. All of which look different as chicks from the welsummer and Barnvelder although I wont be able to tell most of them apart from each other for awhile.

Rosalind wanted 2 Welsummer and 2 Barnvelder

Yes, we have enough, so no PP (see above).

Any last minute changes?

They just might throw in a few packing peanuts. When I got my late summer chicks the weather hot and still I got 7 packing peanuts! I think when they have a huge overload of cockerals every order gets a couple of them to even the score. LOL
