Oh, sorry, I misunderstood! the motor of a fan greatly increases the fire risk, but I feel the dusty environment of a barn or coop will always present some amount of risk in the presence of electricity. A cooler (LED) bulbs will obviously lower the risk but I worry that dust in the wrong place could cause arcing and heat build up. A sharp eye and regular cleaning are never a bad idea!I don't really need a fan. I've got more than enough wind...I was just curious if light fixtures had this same issue as being a fire risk, or if that's just for fans because of the motor.
That said, there have been millions of light fixtures & bulbs in barns around the world, and I’ve seen some pretty scary looking ones (cobwebs galore!!!), but while fires do happen there are many more barns that do not burn.
