I had to come back and look at that egg again this morning it is just so beautiful! I agree that it looks more red brown than pink. Are the leaves really starting to turn where you are?
Love your artistic display! (& the egg too)My BCM cross pullet laid her first eggs this week. As promised, here is a picture. View attachment 1892744
They did not turn out to be pink, but they are a lovely red-brown. I don't have a egg color scale card yet, but to my untrained eye, I'm seeing a 3. I am very happy with them.
Okay, so I haven't gotten a DARK pink egg, but I have gotten a BLUSH PINK one. All three of these eggs came from the same pullet. They are her first three and very tiny (ranging from 32-36 grams). Rosemary is one of three Blue-laced Red Wyandottes I have, but I know for a fact that all of these are from her, as I have her on camera entering and leaving the nest box. The speckled one was yesterday, the one on the bottom is the one she laid today. I really hope this is the color she settles on. The photo doesn't do it justice. It is a lovely, soft, blush pink.
And even better? It comes from a hen named Rosie.
