darn husband...:(

Being a man, I can tell you from experience that our thought process is vastly different than you ladies. You may have said, "give our day old chicks some karo water" and I guarantee that he interpreted that as "Water + Karo + something to put it in (aka bowl) = Done + sleep". Don't be too hard on him, blame millions of years of evolution.

Go ahead and wash those babies off. If you're able to, measure the water, get it around 95 degrees, put them in a little bowl and just wash them off with water. I've washed a new born chick and they're fine. Just don't get water in their nostrils. Towel dry them and stick them under a nice warm brooder lamp. They must be so uncomfortable!

I've found LAZINESS is a man's downfall. They're always looking for short cuts, whatever is more convenient and when it comes to animals that nearly always leads to major injuries, escapes or deaths. I'm really sorry that happened to all of you. Hard lesson to learn. But now you have something to remind him of when he tries to pull another "man move".

His mistakes can be repented of by ... . .. . building another chicken coop! . . . . or at least that would be my motto

Sorry to hear about your babies

All of us can interpret things wrong- I'm sure he feels awful about it, I know mine would.

I hear you there. Me and my hubby of 7 years have had a long discussion about his lack of understanding and he me. But now that we both understand that we do think different and that will never change. When it comes to something I want done a certain way, I explain it in detail and he does the same thing to me.

You are so correct!! I always error on the side of too much clarification... which does not work either, because after 5 words he has tuned me out and is mind has moved on to a completely different subject or has just gone blank!! I tried notes and he got mad at me because I was treating him like a child... as he whined and pouted
