Ok, I got my "location" listed under my Username.. woohoo!

And I checked out the frappr map, very cool but not a lot of BYCers on there (yet), esp not in my area.

I ABSOLUTELY agree that things like location, real name, etc., should be STRICTLY VOLUNTARY, and that it is an absolute safety issue.. NO WAY should info as specific as Street Addresses, phone #s, etc. be included!!!

I guess what I am thinking of is a tool or method of browsing THE MEMBERS (not just browsing posts or subjects) that is not just based on username or number of posts. Maybe general location (by state), plus pertinent "chicken info"....?

Example (off the top of my head);
username: Suellyn
real name: Suellen
state: PA
part of state: southwestern (or "near Pittsburgh"?????????) ??
Number of Chickens and Breeds: None yet
Buy/Sell/Trade Status: Buy Hatching eggs, Silkies and Buff Orps
Misc: Prefer not to ship, would like to pick up from local source
website: don't have one

Example # 2;
username: ChknGirlie
real name: Jane
state: NY
part of state: Northeast
Numbers/Breeds of chickens: 15 silkies, 20 EEers, 10 RIRs, 50+ leghorns
Buy/Sell/Trade Status: Sell hatching eggs and chicks as avail.
Misc: availability and prices listed on website
website: ChknGirlieFarms dot com

Something like that, that is searchable. ??? I think AOL had a kind of member search like that... don't know how they did it in a safe, voluntary, and effective (most of the members were listed to some degree!) manner.
